The History of Blessed Hope Baptist Church is really a story of a miracle. Through a series of events God moved in the hearts of a Master's Minority to form a new congregation, a congregation founded upon the principles and precepts of the inspired Word of God. It was this Biblical conviction which helped the congregation to select the name of this new church. Based upon Titus 2:13 and a firm belief in the second coming of Jesus Christ they unanimously named this new congregation the Blessed Hope Baptist Church. From that humble beginning now stands a monument of the power and grace of God. God has placed eternity in our hearts, and a vision of capturing the attention of the city of Troy. From this place the Gospel has been sounded out clearly, cooperatively and fundamentally.

The Blessed Hope Baptist Church was constituted on April 5. 1981 with 74 charter members. Bro. T. C. Thurman served full-time as Pastor from October, 1981 until his retirement in August, 1991. Bro. Sheldon Hale served as Pastor from January, 1992 until 2000. Bro. Terry Council became Pastor in February, 2001 and continues to serve as pastor today.

Our reflection of the past serves as an encouragement for the future. We also know that nothing can stop us from being the Church that God wants us to be except us. It is up to us to seek God's will for Blessed Hope and then submit to His will. “If I had to give one word to describe the people at Blessed Hope, that word would be 'Love'” says Pastor Bro. Terry Council. “Blessed Hope Baptist Church is a group of people that believe 'Everybody is somebody.'” May God help us to share that "Jesus is the way to Heaven in 2007." Amen.
